Poppies are annual plants that grow up to 90 cm in height. They have a single or branched hairy stem. Sharply serrated pinnate leaves. Of course, flowers do not need to be introduced for too long, everyone knows their beautiful, red color. However, it is worth adding a few interesting facts about their breeding in flower meadows. Despite its commonness and the sticky “patch”, the weed is not so easy to please this plant. It requires nitrogen-rich soil and plenty of light to grow. Seeds hitting the soil not matching their conditions or being overshadowed by other flowers – will not grow! Additionally, you do not need a permit to grow field poppy, as it does not contain morphine (unlike similar opium poppy).
They are annuals and bloom from May to August. Despite quite high requirements for a common plant, poppy seeds are able to survive even several years until they find the right conditions.s.
